Previous Award(s) Complete the fields below if your agency has been awarded a Tobacco Grant in a previous year/round
Previous Award(s) Our agency has previously been awarded with a Tobacco grant, which Accomplishments has allowed us to maintain accountability with the numerous locations selling tobacco products. Prior to receiving a grant, we received several complaints per month regarding the sale of tobacco to minors around the City of Fullerton. After obtaining proper funding, we established several operations which included Minor Decoy, Shoulder Tap and Compliance checks. Those operations have allowed us to periodically govern the sales of tobacco to minors at every establishment in our city and has also given us the ability to educate the public with the efforts of attempting to minimize the sale of tobacco to minors. We have had challenges with the local District Attorney's office with getting our cases filed. After having a meeting with the head of court DA, we were informed that they would not support filing charges on individuals for the Shoulder Tap operations.

We have used those operations as opportunities to educate violators and improve our community relations with the public. We have also had challenges getting the Minor Decoy cases filed consistently. We continue to reach out to the DA's office to educate them and provide feedback on their rejections.
