DISCUSSION

Brookdale Avenue is a 36-foot-wide, east/west residential cul-de-sac street with a prima facie speed limit of 25 miles per hour. There is i mproved curb, gutter, and sidewalk on both sides of the street . The street is comprised of single-family residential homes on both sides. On-street parking is restricted to 2 hours of continuous parking between the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, Sunday & Holidays exempt. “Early Morning Parking” between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. is also permitted on both sides of the street for this segment of Bro okdale Avenue. The residence was built in the 1930’s and has one single-car garage which is inaccessible for all practical reasons.

The request for a Disabled Person’ s parking space in front of the home was initiated due to a physical condition which prohibits the resident from fully turning their head to safely back out of the driveway. Available on-street parking in front of the h ome would greatly enhance the health, safety, and quality of life for the resident.

The resident possesses a valid California Driver’s License and a Disabled Person ’s placard. The property is also ADA compliant for non-ambulatory disabilities.
