I wish to express my support for Southern CaliforniaEdison’s(SCE) BuildingElectrification(BE)application. This application will accelerate the adoption of electric heat pumps in an equitablemanner andprovidecustomerswithfinancial assistancetoupgradeelectrical equipment tomakethis transition possible. SCE’s application is a step forward to help maximize greenhouse gasreduction (GHG) and is inline with California’s climate goals.
SCE recognizes the need to accelerate electrification growth to meet the state's 2030 GHGreduction goals; this self-initiated application takes a step toward building electrification with amarket transformationapproach. SCEestimatesthat 70%of spaceandwater heatingneedtobeelectricby2045tomeet California'sambitiouscleanenergyandcarbonneutralitygoalsofa40%reduction below 1990 levels by 2030, and carbon neutrality by 2045. This programwill get ustoward those goals and speed up efforts to make those targets a reality.
I amoptimisticthat theSCEBEapplicationwill helpthestatemeetitsGHGgoalswhilepreservingthecustomer’sabilityandrighttomaketheirowndecisionsabouttheirenergyefficientappliances.We look forward to your consideration on the matter.
