DISCUSSION
The California OTS has awarded the Fullerton Police Department a $285,000.00 continuing STEP grant. The 2023-24 STEP grant reduces the number of deaths and injuries involving alcohol, speed, red light running and other primary collision factors. The Fullerton Police Department has received this grant in each fiscal year from 2013 to 2023. Awards fund operation of DUI Checkpoints, DUI Saturation Patrols, Court Stings, Warrant Service Operations, Stakeout Operations, Know Your Limit campaigns, Traffic Enforcement, Distracted Driving Enforcement, Bike / Pedestrian Enforcement, Traffic Safety Presentations, Click It or Ticket campaigns and Motorcycle Operations. Previous STEP grants purchased equipment such as a radar trailer and message board, a DUI checkpoint trailer and supplies and radars with holsters. City Council must approve the grant for the City to receive this funding.
