Project Start Date: 7/1/2023 Contact Phone Number: 714-738-2835 Project End Date: 6/30/2024 Amount of Grant Funding Requested for this Project:
$100,000
Project Description:

The City of Fullerton (Fullerton) proposes to conduct acoustic leak detection surveys for approximately 80 miles of distribution system and repair of any leaks identified through the leak detection surveys. The distribution areas identified by Fullerton staff were chosen for leak detection with considerations to distribution pipe age, future CIP, and leak frequency, see attached map. Initial funds, approximately $25,000, will provide acoustic leak detection at a cost of up to $314/mile. The surveys will be completed by Municipal Water District of Orange County (MWDOC) leak detection staff. The surveys will utilize industry standard hand-held acoustic listening equipment and noise correlating loggers.

MWDOC will report any leaks identified through the survey to Fullerton staff. Fullerton staff will then make necessary repairs to the leak locations using the remaining funding, approximately $75,000. Any leak locations that have not been addressed using the remaining funding or are still outstanding after the project end date of June 30, 2024, whichever comes first, will be repaired at Fullerton's own cost.

Fullerton will provide any applicable invoices, detailed information on survey locations (street and city locations), survey distance, number of leaks detected, leak frequency per 100 miles and volumetric flow rate estimations of any detected leaks.

I certify that the information provided in this request is accurate and in accordance with guidelines provided in this Agreement. I understand that this project must be for leak detection or leak repair and conducted within a municipal water agency's distribution system, and that Metropolitan must approve this request prior to Member Agency starting the project and seeking reimbursement from Metropolitan for this project.

By signing, Member Agency agrees to these terms.
