PRIORITY POLICY STATEMENT
This item matches the following Priority Policy Statements:

Fiscal and Organizational Stability
Infrastructure and City Assets.

FISCAL IMPACT
No net fiscal impact to the Fiscal Year 2023-24 Adopted Budget. Staff requests appropriation of receipt and use of Fullerton Public Library Foundation donated funds as the Foundation will donate $150,000 in advance for Hunt Library start-up costs and library specific furniture and donate the remaining $100,000 on a reimbursement basis as the City incurs eligible costs for common furniture and equipment to use throughout the Hunt facility.

DISCUSSION
The Hunt Library and Event Center is a joint-use facility as directed by City Council on June 6, 2023 with approval of the two-year plan to fund Hunt Library. The Fullerton Public Library Foundation met on June 27, 2023 and approved a $150,000 donation to support Hunt Library startup costs. The Foundation met on September 26, 2023 and approved a $100,000 donation for Hunt Library common costs.

Hunt Library
$150,000 of the donation would go towards Hunt Library start-up costs and library-specific furniture purchased for the building opening. This would include furniture essential to library operations such as mobile bookshelves, book carts, a reference desk, technology and the opening day book collection for the public. Programming for the Library typically includes, but is not limited to, storytime, book discussions and guest speakers.

Hunt Facility
Parks and Recreation programming could consist of a wide variety of contract classes and event rentals. The City would use the additional $100,000 donation to purchase common use furniture for the Hunt facility, such as tables and chairs, critical for the facility to host a wide variety of events or other programs.

The City and Library appreciate the continued generous support from the Fullerton Public Library Foundation. cc: City Manager Eric J. Levitt
