CALVARY CHAPEL
OPEN DOOR
Dear Taylor,
I am writing this letter as requested from a conversation you had with our accountant, Sioux Tumer. My name is Don Hoag and I am the Senior Pastor of Calvary Chapel Open Door. We have been renting a piece of land from your Water District for the past 20 years.
Because of Covid19 lockdowns and restrictions, our church has experienced a financial hardship since the pandemic began 3 years ago.
We have been able to stay faithful to our commitment to your lease with us.... however our rent for the back parking lot continues to increase every year by 3%. With money tight, this increase each year is adding increased burden on our budget. Our rent to you has doubled since we started renting from you and continues to go up every year. The lease agreement with you was signed July 16 of 2002. The initial amount was around $1300. This year we are currently paying $2531 and that will go up 3% this year to $2607.
We are graciously requesting one of two things.
1) Would you be willing to reduce our rent by 20-30% for the next few years? OR 2) Would Fullerton consider selling us this parcel of land? Either option would be a blessing to our ministry. The second option of purchasing the land we believe would give us a much lower payment if we had a bank, or Fullerton amortize the loan to us.
Our scriptures tells us in James 4:2.... you do not have because you do not ask.
Thank you for your consideration of our proposal and please advise us of your decision.
God Bless,
Pastor Don Hoag
