PRIORITY POLICY STATEMENT
This item matches the following Priority Policy Statement:
Fiscal and Organizational Stability
FISCAL IMPACT
This item would increase the Fire Chief salary by 5.197% which represents an approximately $16,000 annualized cost increase. The fiscal impact for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2023-24 totals less than $3,000. The current fiscal year Fire Department budget has sufficient funds and this item does not require additional appropriation.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Director of Human Resources and City Manager reviewed the Fire Chief classification salary range in comparison to Fire Chief salaries in Orange County and internal salary relationships and recommend increasing the Fire Chief salary range by 5.197%. This increase would establish the Fire Chief salary range at 12.5% above the Deputy Fire Chief salary range. Additionally, staff recommends that the Fire Chief receive future salary increases commensurate with the Fullerton Fire Management Association (4% effective July 6, 2024, 3% effective July 5, 2025 and 3% effective July 4, 2026).
This item would revise the Executive Compensation Resolution, Appendix A to add Range No. 1090 for the Fire Chief classification, with a $203,342 control point ($162,673 minimum and $244,010 maximum). Staff proposes no other changes to the Executive Compensation Resolution.
