Fiscal and Organizational Stability.
FISCAL IMPACT
The Fullerton Museum would incur fees for City expenses to rent the Downtown Fullerton Plaza . The fee for use of facilities for this event is waived per the City of Fullerton and Fullerton Museum Operation Agreement. The City would incur $1,510 in direct costs for part-time staffing, custodial and plaza cleaning.
In addition, to provide adequate safety for the event and the attendees at Fullerton Plaza, six additional police officers would be required for the duration of the event. The staffing would include five police officers and one supervising officer. The rate for all three officers would equate to $3,253.50. By waiving fee cost, the City will absorb these costs within the current department budgets.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The Fullerton Museum has been a city partner and has hosted events at the Downtown Plaza for the past few years. The Punk OC opening chronicles the global phenomenon of punk music, with a special focus on its deep roots in Fullerton and Orange Country. The opening reception will feature live music by T.S.O.L., D.I., and DJ Joe Escalante, vendors, food, and a beer garden.
The Fullerton Museum requests the City to waive all fees, have City staff assist with closing Wilshire Avenue, and provide staff for the event setup and teardown. City staff will meet with the organizer to guide necessary applications and requirements for a successful event. The Fullerton Museum Executive Director or her designee will be the main point of contact for City staff to communicate with in case of any issues.
