FISCAL IMPACT
The City received $551,505.67 in donations from various donors and expended $599,275.65 on eligible purchases or intended use of donations in FY 2024-25. Donations expended are higher than received due to using prior year donation balances held in reserve. Staff tracks donations in separate accounts to assist department donation tracking, ensure proper use of intended donation and mitigate overspending.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
City Council adopted Resolution No. 2020-066 on July 21, 2020 authorizing the City Manager, or designee, to accept cash donations and gifts received each fiscal year and expend funds as intended. The resolution requires staff submit an annual report outlining donations received and expended during the fiscal year and identify intended general purpose of donations expended.
The Fiscal Services Division prepared the FY 2024-25 Donations Report (Attachment 1). The Donations Report lists beginning balances, donation amounts, sources (donors), uses or expended amount of donation, brief description of use and ending balances for donations received in the fiscal year. The City received $551,505.67 in donations from various donors and expended $599,275.65 on eligible intended uses for donations in FY 2024-25. Staff will carry donations with balances forward and utilize in the new fiscal year.
Staff requests City Council receive and file the annual donations report.
