Staff Bitz presented
Staff Hoffman explained the City's map extension process, and what action the Commissioners can and cannot take regarding the extension.
Commissioner Gerling asked why Cornell Road will be improved. Staff Hoffman advised that the improvement of Cornell Road was an original condition of approval; as such, the condition will remain in place.
Chair Denier opened the public hearing at 6:25pm.
Scott Roukey provided public comment. Mr. Roukey lives on Chase Drive and expressed concern with homeless in the adjacent Dry Creek area. He asked what the opening up and continuation of Chase Drive would do to the current residents.
Dale Templeton provided public comment. Mr. Templeton advised that he was happy with the project, and happy to see the original conditions of approval are to remain in place.
Chair Denier closed public hearing at 6:34pm.
Attorney Branham advised the Commissioners that the item is specifically to approve the time extension of the map. Chair Denier asked what would happen if the map was not approved Attorney Branham advised that not approving the map is not recommended. Should the map extension request not be granted, the applicant may then file an appeal to bring the item before City Council.
Chair Denier expressed concern over the project as he was not on the Planning Commission at the time of project approval. He acknowledged that the Commission did not have ability to change the conditions of approval for the project. He also questioned the original map approval, and asked the length of time a map is normally approved for. Staff Hoffman stated that two years is typical for a map extension, and that this specific project should not need another extension in the future.
Staff Hoffman then explained the circumstances leading to the map extension request.
Applicant Mike Oliver of MSG addressed the Commission, and provided detail on the events leading to their map extension request. Approval of the map extension will also allow the applicant to move forward with the home builders that are interested in the Fairway Oaks project.
Commissioner Pratton motioned to approve the resolution approving a two-year time extension for the Fairway Oaks Tentative Subdivision Map. Commissioner Gerling second the motion.
Motion passed by Chair Denier, Commissioner Gerling and Commissioner Pratton.
