BACKGROUND
The Police Department Special Resource Team (SRT) is comprised of four full -time and two temporarily assigned police officers whose primary duty is to serve the homeless community, including those who suffer from mental health conditions. SRT calls for service at times result in arrests of individuals with large amounts of personal property, which requires transport of the personal property in a specialty truck-type vehicle to the Police Department. Currently, SRT has one (1) utility truck assigned for the ir use. An additional utility truck is necessary due to the increase in SRT staffing and the calls for service related to homelessness and mental illness.
DISCUSSION
Sourcewell nationally solicits, evaluates and awards contracts through a competitive b id process. As a member of Sourcewell, the City is able to utilize bid awards for equipment purchases. Staff recommends piggybacking on the results of a recent Sourcewell competitive bid program, Contract #091521-NAF. The results deemed National Auto Fleet Group as the lowest responsive bid.
National Auto Fleet Group $59,011.88
Additionally, the city has an existing blanket purchase order with Lehr-Stommel to equip new police vehicles. Lehr-Stommel will be utilized to equip the Police Responder pickup truck when it is delivered. The current estimated quote to equip the vehicle is $31,984.53.
