OBJECTIVE
To transmit a letter from Efrain Davalos, President of Garden Grove Community Foundation, and Dr. True McMahan, Chair of the Board of Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce, requesting approval for a one-day use of the Willowick Golf Course for the annual fundraising golf tournament on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

BACKGROUND
For the past 18 years, the Garden Grove Community Foundation (GGCF) and the Garden Grove Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) have partnered to host the G GCF/Chamber Golf Classic. Last year, it was renamed the Ric V. Lerma Memorial Golf Classic. This event is the largest and most significant fundraiser for both organizations and helps to support GGCF events including the free summer concert series and various community groups as well as assisting the Chamber in promoting the G arden Grove business community , and providing resources for tourists who visit Garden Grove.

DISCUSSION
Willowick is owned by the City and the City Council has traditionally granted joint use of the golf course to the GGCF and Chamber for the annual Golf Classic fundraiser.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact. The non-profit rate for an all-day tournament with 144 players is $4,320. The GGCF and the Chamber are requesting this fee to be waived.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:

 Consider the attached letter requesting the one -day use of the Willowick Golf Course for the GGCF/Chamber Golf Classic on Wednesday, September 18, 2024 and all subsequent requests for this fundraising tournament.
