OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a Proclamation supporting Drowning Prevention Awareness and the Orange County Fire Authority's 2024 "Always Watch the Water" and "Never Swim Alone" 2024 campaign.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) 2024 campaign theme is “Always Watch the Water” and “Never Swim Alone” that begins in May and continues through August to increase awareness and preparedness and to provide education on proper safety measures.
The aim is to curb the prevalence of drowning incidents through comprehensive public education, emergency preparedness resources, and proactive drowning prevention strategies. OCFA strives to empower individuals to recognize and mitigate the dangers of water-related activities and prevent tragedies.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt the Proclamation supporting the Orange County Fire Authority 2024 campaign for Drowning Prevention Awareness.
