OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to consider adoption of a Proclamation recognizing September 2024 as Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in Garden Grove.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
City staff was contacted by Alzheimer’s Orange County requesting to submit a Proclamation for City Council consideration for the purpose of raising awareness of the impact to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease. Since 1982, Alzheimer’s Orange County has been the center for Alzheimer’s resources for those suffering from Alzheimer’s or dementia. With more than 164,000 people in Orange County affected by dementia or mild cognitive impairment, Alzheimer’s Orange County’s mission is to serve Orange County peo ple with memory loss, frail seniors, and those that support them.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt a Proclamation recognizing September 2024 as Alzheimer’s Disease Awareness Month in Garden Grove.
