Subject: Adoption of a Proclamation adopting September 15, 2024 through October 15, 2024, as "National Hispanic Heritage Month." (Action Item)
OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a Proclamation recognizing September 15, 2024 through October 15, 2024, as National Hispanic Heritage Month.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
At the September 11, 2018 City Council meeting, Council Member Nguyen -Penaloza introduced a Proclamation declaring National Hispanic Heritage Month, which was adopted unanimously by the City Council. Since the first adoption of a Proclamation celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month by the City Council in 2018, a proclamation has been brought back every year to continue to celebrate and memorialize Hispanic heritage.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt a Proclamation recognizing September 15, 2024 – October 15, 2024, as Hispanic Heritage Month.
