INTER-DEPARTMENT MEMORANDUM
To:
Lisa L. Kim From: William E. Murray
Dept:
City Manager Dept: Public Works
Date: 11/12/2024
Subject: Award a contract to Unifirst Corporation to provide employee uniforms and other related service items. (Cost: Not-to-Exceed $80,000 per year) (Action Item)
OBJECTIVE
To request that the City Council award a contract to Unifirst Corporation to provide employee uniforms and other related service items.
BACKGROUND
Uniform rental and related services items are an integral part of safety equipment provided to Public Works’ employees; these services also include provision of items such as various building mats, runners, and dust mops for cleaning at city facilities. The existing uniform agreement will expire on December 16, 2024.
DISCUSSION
Sourcewell nationally solicits, evaluates and awards contracts through a competitive bid process. As a member of Sourcewell, the City is able to utilize bid awards for employee uniforms and other related service purchases. Staff recommends piggybacking on the results of a recent Sourcewell competitive bid program, Contract #011124-UFC. The results deemed Unifirst as the lowest responsive bid. Staff is seeking a 40 -month term agreement in the amount of $80,000 per year with an annual option to renew. The agreement would expire on March 25, 2028 to stay consistent with Sourcewell’s terms.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
The initial term of the agreement is for seven (7) months in the amount of $ 40,000. The agreement provides for renewal options on an annual basis for a maximum 40 months, not to exceed $80,000 annually. Th e cost of the agreement is included in the existing Public Works’ Budget, no additional appropriation is necessary.

Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute the contract on behalf of the City, and make minor modifications as necessary thereto; and
