Subject: Appointment of Housing Authority Tenant Commissioners. (Action Item)
OBJECTIVE
For the Mayor, with approval of the City Council, to appoint two tenant commissioners to the Garden Grove Housing Authority.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Appointments of tenant commissioners are made every two years. Pursuant to the Housing Authority Bylaws, the Housing Authority shall consist of nine commissioners. The Mayor and City Council shall serve as seven and shall appoint as commissioners two tenan ts of the Housing Authority, with one such tenant commissioner over the age of 62 years. The tenants under the Authority, who are interested in serving, and who can attend regularly scheduled meetings, have submitted applications and are listed in the provided attachment.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Housing Authority Commissioners receive compensation in the amount of $50 per meeting not exceeding four meetings per month, which is budgeted through the Housing Authority administration.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the Mayor and City Council:
Appoint two Housing Authority Tenant Commissioners.
