A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GARDEN GROVE RATIFYING THE ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION NO. 9892-24 APPROVING A 180-DAY WAIT PERIOD EXCEPTION PURSUANT TO GOVERNMENT CODE SECTIONS 7522.56 AND 21224 TO HIRE RETIRED ANNUITANT ON A
TEMPORARY, PART-TIME BASIS
WHEREAS, pursuant to Government Code Section 7522.56 the Garden Grove City Council adopted Resolution No. 9892-24 on December 10, 2024, to provide CalPERS certification of hiring Rebecca Meeks, a retiree, before 180 days have passed since her retirement date; and
WHEREAS, Government Code Section 7522.56 requires that the appointment of the retiree not be placed on a consent calendar; and
WHEREAS, the approval of Resolution No. 9892 -24 was inadvertently placed on the consent calendar; and
WHEREAS, this resolution and the discussion of Rebecca Meeks’ appointment was placed on the City Council agenda on April 22, 2025, for full discussion and ratification of Ms. Meeks’ appointment to ensure full compliance with State regulations.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT after public discussion of the matter, the Garden Grove City Council hereby ratifies the adoption of Resolution No. 9892 -24 certifying the nature of the appointment of Rebecca Meeks as described therein and detailed in the appointment document attached therein, and that the appointment is necessary to fill the critically needed position of Senior Program Specialist for the City of Garden Grove by January 6, 2025, because of the irreplace able knowledge and experience that Rebecca Meeks bring to the implementation of the Axon Public Safety Software Suite project, making her continued involvement essential for the successful completion of the software implementation.
