Subject: Authorization for the issuance of a purchase order to Greenfields Outdoor Fitnesss, Inc. for new outdoor fitness equipment for the Medal of Honor Bike and Pedestrian Trail. (Cost: $132,607.71)(Action Item)
OBJECTIVE
To request City Council authorization to purchase new outdoor fitness equipment from to Greenfields Outdoor Fitnesss, Inc. through the Sourcewell competitive bid program, Contract #010721-GRN.
BACKGROUND
In February 2024, City Council adopted a resolution approving participation in the Clean California Local Grant Program (CCLGP) and authorized the appropriation of $441,000 in grant funds. The City committed to improving parks and pathways, with the ultima te goals of reducing litter, enhancing public health, and to benefiting underserved communities. The awarded funds will be used to install new outdoor fitness equipment, litter abatement signage, trail furniture, trash receptacles, bike racks on four concr ete pads, and landscaping/mulch along the Medal of Honor Bike and Pedestrian Trail . These proposed amenities and enhancements are a direct response to public feedback and reflect community priorities for trail improvements.
DISCUSSION
Sourcewell solicits, evaluates, and awards contracts to companies through a competitive bid process. As a member of Sourcewell, the City is able to utilize Sourcewell bid awards for equipment purchases. Staff recommends to purchase the 22 outdoor fitness equipment units through this competitive bid program, Contract # 010721-GRN from Greenfields Outdoor Fitnesss, Inc. Experience has shown that the City’s buying power is enhanced through joining with other public agencies to purchase this type of equipment.

FINANCIAL IMPACT
The total cost for purchasing 22 outdoor fitness equipment units for the Medal of Honor Bike and Pedestrian Trail is $132,607.71. This purchase is funded by the Caltrans Clean California Local Grant Program (CCLGP) and was appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2024-25 budget. The appropriation will be carried over to Fiscal Year 2025-26 to complete the purchase.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Authorize the Finance Director to issue a purchase order to Greenfields Outdoor Fitness, Inc., in the amount of $132,607.71 for the purchase of new outdoor fitness equipment for the Medal of Honor Bike and Pedestrian Trail.
