Date: 8/26/2025

Subject: Award a contract to Works of Art by Jennifer for the design and fabrication of a bronze sculpture for Woodbury Park. (Cost: $163,125)(Action Item)

OBJECTIVE

To request City Council authorization to award a contract to Works of Art by Jennifer (ARTIST) for the design and fabrication of a bronze sculpture at Woodbury Park.

BACKGROUND

The Woodbury Park Revitalization and Expansion Project is funded in part by the Proposition 68 Statewide Park Development and Community Revitalization Grant Program. As part of the grant contract requirements, the City agreed to contract a local artist who would work alongside with youth in the community to produce an art piece that would be installed at Woodbury Park before the completion of the grant-funded project. The final art piece would not only beautify the park space, but would also allow local youth to be a part of the process.

DISCUSSION

Staff would like to contract Works of Art by Jennifer , a well -known local artist in Garden Grove, to produce the art piece for Woodbury Park. The ARTIST has proposed to design and fabricate a bronze sculpture that will incorporate facsimiles of signed drawings by local youth that will be inscribed on the backside of the sculpture. These inscriptions will offer a timeless reminder of the contributions to the project made by local youth.

The ARTIST has proven to produce quality art work for other projects commissioned by the City and local organizations. Staff has determined it is in the best interest of the City pursuant to Garden Grove Municipal Code Section 2.50.060(G), to award a contract to the ARTIST.

FINANCIAL IMPACT

The cost for the design and fabrication of a bronze sculpture is estimated to be $163,125, which includes the Artist’s original clay sculpture, the molds for the casting and the fabrication of the finished bronze art piece. The funding has been incorporated into the adopted Fiscal Item 297/2025
