OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a Proclamation recognizing October 23-31, 2025, as Red Ribbon Week.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Garden Grove City Council has adopted a proclamation recognizing October 23-31 as Red Ribbon Week to support the Garden Grove Elks Drug Awareness Program (DAP) since 2019.
The National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics indicates that teens in Californi a are 11.47 percent more likely in the last month to have used drugs than the average American teen.
The Elks are committed to bringing awareness to the community and youth of the national campaign for living a drug -free life. Adoption of a Proclamat ion by the City Council recognizing October 23-31 as Red Ribbon Week illustrates support of a drug-free and healthy life, and of the Garden Grove Elks’ commitment to bringing awareness of what Red Ribbon Week represents through civic engagement.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt a Proclamation recognizing October 23-31, as Red Ribbon Week.
