OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a Proclamation recognizing October 19-25, 2025, as National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The City of Garden Grove City Council has adopted proclamations annually recognizing Lead Poisoning Prevention Week since 2019 in support of the Orange County Health Department’s efforts to bring community awareness that exposure to lead can result in serious developmental problems affecting children.
This year, National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week (NLPPW) is October 19-25. As noted by the Environmental Protection Agency, NLPPW is a call to bring together individuals, organizations, industry, and Tribal, state , and local governments to reduce childhood exposure to lead by increasing lead poisoning prevention awareness. NLPPW highlights ways parents, caregivers, and communities can reduce children's exposure to lead and prevent its harmful health effects.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt a Proclamation recognizing October 19-25, 2025, as National Lead Poisoning Prevention Week in Garden Grove.
