Subject: Acceptance of Project No. CP -1180000, Bolsa Chica Street -Valley View Street Traffic Signal Synchronization Project, as complete. (Action Item)
OBJECTIVE
For City Council to accept the above projects as complete and authorize the City Manager to execute the Notice of Completion of Public Improvement and Work.
BACKGROUND
Project No. CP-1180000 consisted of procurement and installation of various field equipment at five (5) signalized intersections along Valley View Street from Cerulean Avenue to Chapman Avenue. The field equipment included traffic signal cabinets, service cabinets, controllers, video detection systems, CCTV cameras, APS pedestrian push buttons, Ethernet switches, pull boxes, conduits and condu ctors. The project also included the installation and integration of communication equipment to the Garden Grove Traffic Management Center (TMC).
DISCUSSION
The contractor, Iteris, Inc., has completed the improvements in accordance with the plans, specifications, and other contract documents. The project was completed within the project budget and schedule. The retention payment will be released after recordation of the Notice of Completion.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact to accept the above projects as complete and authorize the City Manager to execute the Notice of Completion of Public Improvement and Work. Funding for the project included CTFP grant funds in the amount of $ 436,096.80 from OCTA, and the City’s local match of $109,024.20, which included $83,160.00 from in-kind sources, and $25,864.20 from Traffic Mitigation Fees.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Accept Project No. CP-1180000 Installation and Integration of Equipment for the Bolsa Chica Street-Valley View Street Traffic Signal Synchronization Project, as complete;
Authorize the City Manager, or designee, to execute the Notice of Completion of Public Improvement and Work; and
Authorize the Finance Director to release the retention payment when appropriate to do so.
