Subject: Adoption of a Proclamation recognizing April as Fair Housing Month. (Action Item)
OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a Proclamation recognizing April as Fair Housing Month in Garden Grove.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
April is recognized nationally as Fair Housing Month in commemoration of the passage of the Fair Housing Act, which was signed into law in 1968 and prohibits discrimination in housing based on race, color, religion, sex, disability, familial status, or national origin. Fair Housing Month serves to raise awareness of residents’ rights, promote equal access to housing opportunities, and reaffirm the community’s commitment to eliminating housing discrimination.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt a Proclamation recognizing April as Fair Housing Month in Garden Grove.
