Subject: Consideration of a Written Request from the Garden Grove Unified School District for Co-Sponsorship of the Showmobile for its 60th Anniversary Celebration on May 15, 2026. (Action Item)
OBJECTIVE
To transmit a letter on behalf of Garden Grove Unified School District (GGUSD) requesting that the City Council consider waiving the rental fee for use of the City’s showmobile stage for 60th Anniversary event scheduled on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Bolsa Grande High School.
BACKGROUND
GGUSD is celebrating its 60th Anniversary with a community event scheduled for Friday, May 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bolsa Grande Stadium, 9401 Westminster Avenue.
The event is intended to bring together students, families, alumni, staff, and community members to commemorate six decades of educational excellence and community partnership.
Planned activities include student performances, games, a mini car show, food vendors, and other family-friendly programming.
DISCUSSION
The showmobile would provide a professional stage platform to enhance visibility and quality of student performances during the event. GGUSD has indicated awareness of operational requirements, including staffing and towing logistics, and is prepared to coordinate with City staff on these matters.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
Approval of this request will forego the revenue that would otherwise be collected for the rental of the City’s showmobile stage, in the amount of $350.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Consider the written request from Garden Grove Unified SchoolDistrict to waive the rental fee of $350 for use of the City’s showmobile stage for their 60 th Anniversary event on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Bolsa Grande High School.
