OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a Proclamation celebrating May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in Garden Grove.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month is observed each May to recognize the history, culture, and contributions of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
Garden Grove is home to a large and diverse AAPI population, including Little Saigon and Koreatown, whose residents have played a vital role in the City’s cultural and economic development. Issuing this proclamation affirms the City’s commitment to celebrating diversity and acknowledging the contributions of AAPI residents.

There is no financial impact.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt the Proclamation celebrating May as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month in Garden Grove.
