Subject: Adoption of a Proclamation recognizing May as Building and Safety Month. (Action Item)
OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a Proclamation recognizing May 2026 as Building and Safety Month in Garden Grove.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Building and Safety Month is sponsored by the International Code Council to raise awareness about building safety and to remind the public about the critical role of our local code officials.
This year’s theme “Built to Last” reinforces the need for the adoption of modern, regularly - updated building codes, and helps individuals, families and businesses understand what it takes to create safe and sustainable structures.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt the Proclamation recognizing May 2026 as Building and Safety Month in Garden Grove.
