OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a Proclamation recognizing June 19 th as Juneteenth in the City of Garden Grove.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Juneteenth commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States and recognizes the ongoing pursuit of freedom, equality, and justice. The attached proclamation honors the historical significance of June 19th and acknowledges the importance of reflecting on the nation’s history and progress.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt a Proclamation recognizing June 19th as Juneteenth in the City of Garden Grove.
