Subject: Adoption of a Resolution accepting and approving the City of Garden Grove Public Works Standard Plans and Specifications – 2026 Edition. (Action Item)
OBJECTIVE
To adopt a resolution accepting and approving the updated City of Garden Grove Public Works Standard Plans and Specifications (2026 Edition).
BACKGROUND
Many governing agencies and municipalities have a practice of periodically updating their standard plans and specifications. Updates are generally done as regulatory requirements change and better practices arise, or standards just become outdated.
On December 8, 2015, the City Council approved updated editions of the City of Garden Grove Public Works Standard Plans and Specifications. The Public Works Standard Plans and Specifications i s a document that is used in conjunction with the State of California Department of Transportation Standard Plans and Specifications for Public Works Construction and other industry standards for public improvement projects.
DISCUSSION
The Public Works D epartment, Engineering Division, has revised the 20 15 Garden Grove Public Works Standard Plans and Specifications creating a 20 26 edition that includes staff input from the following division and sections: Capital Improvements, Traffic, Water, Sewer, Storm Drain, Street & Trees Maintenance, and Building Services. Each division/section made revisions and/or added new standards in their respective fields. These revisions have also been made to reflect conformity with state law. The standards serve as an important tool for residents, utility companies, design professionals, contractors, developers, materials and equipment suppliers to facilitate the design, approval, and construction of improvements within the public right -of-way. From time to time, the City En gineer may approve certain revisions and additions for the control of engineering design.

RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt the attached Resolution accepting and approving the City of Garden Grove Public Works Standard Plans and Specifications - 2026 Edition.
