OBJECTIVE
For the City Council to adopt a Proclamation recognizing October 12, 2026, as Indigenous Peoples’ Day in Garden Grove.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
Indigenous Peoples’ Day is observed annually on the second Monday of October to recognize and honor the history, culture, and contributions of Indigenous peoples. The State of California has recognized Indigenous Peoples’ Day since 2019, and the City of Garden Grove recognizes the contributions of Indigenous peoples in the region.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact.
RECOMMENDATION
It is recommended that the City Council:
Adopt a Proclamation recognizing October 12, 2026, as Indigenous Peoples’ Day in Garden Grove.
