Gardena City Council Special Meeting

In order to minimize the spread of the COVID 19 virus, Governor Newsom has signed Assembly Bill 361. Please be advised that the Council Chambers are closed to the public and that some, or all, of the Gardena City Council Members may attend this meeting telephonically.
The Special Meeting / Study Session of the Gardena City Council Special Meeting of the City of Gardena, California, was called to order at 6:07 PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2022, via Zoom, Mayor Tasha Cerda presiding.
1. ROLL CALL
Present: Mayor Tasha Cerda; Council Member Mark E. Henderson; Council Member Rodney Tanaka; and Council Member Wanda Love; Mayor Pro Tem Paulette C. Francis was away on an excused absence; Other City Officials and Employees present City Manager Clint Osorio; City Attorney Carmen Vasquez; and Assistant City Attorney Lisa Kranitz, Community Development Director Greg Tsujiuchi; Senior Planner Amanda Acuna and City Clerk Mina Semenza.

3. COUNCIL ITEM
3.A RESOLUTION NO. 6602, Making the legally required findings to Re -Authorize the use of Teleconferencing in accordance with Assembly Bill 361 for meetings of the Gardena City Council and other Commissions, Committees and Boards subject to State open meeting laws
RESOLUTION NO. 6602
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GARDENA, CALIFORNIA, MAKING THE LEGALLY REQUIRED
FINDINGS TO RE -AUTHORIZE THE USE OF
TELECONFERENCING IN ACCORDANCE WITH ASSEMBLY
BILL 361 FOR MEETINGS OF THE GARDENA CITY COUNCIL
AND OTHER COMMISSIONS, COMMITTEES AND BOARDS
SUBJECT TO STATE OPEN MEETING LAWS
City Manager Osorio presented the Staff.
It was moved by Council Member Tanaka, seconded by Council Member Henderson, and carried by the following roll call vote to Adopt Resolution No. 6602:
Ayes: Council Members Tanaka, Henderson, Love, and Mayor Cerda
Noes: None
Absent: Mayor Pro Tem Francis
4. PRESENTATIONS
4.A Proposed Development for 14600 S Western Ave
Senior Planner Amanda Acuna, Assistant City Attorney Lisa Kranitz and Community Development Director Greg Tsujiuchi were present and available for any questions.
Fred Shaffer, Developer of Saiko Investment Corporation gave the presentation and was available for any questions. Steve Ludwig, Developer Representative of NextGen Apartments was present and assisted with the presentation.
No Public Speakers.
Council Member Love and Tanaka spoke in favor of the proposed development.
Council Member Henderson have questions regarding traffic/speeding and adding a lighted crosswalk. Mayor Cerda asked for confirmation of height requirements .
4.8 Proposed Development for 2315 Marine Avenue
Senior Planner Amanda Acuna, Assistant City Attorney Lisa Kranitz and Community Development Director Greg Tsujiuchi were present and available for any questions.
Fred Shaffer, Developer of Saiko Investment Corporation gave the presentation and was available for any questions.
5. ADJOURNMENT
At 7:37 p.m. , Mayor Cerda adjourned the to the Closed Session portion of the Regular City Council Meeting immediately at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Regular City Council Meetin at 7:30 pm., on Tuesday, September 13, 2022.
