5. CITY COUNCIL/STAFF COMMENTS
Councilmember Najarian acknowledged Malcolm Johnson, a private citizen who attends city council meetings as being a former Eagle Scout.

Councilmember Asatryan brought up the issue of the high prices that the Easter Bunny booth charges at the Americana and how it is inaccessible to many families. Since the city has an annual Easter extravaganza, she asked staff to recreate something similar to the Easter Bunny photography booth so residents can have a similar experience and create memories with their children at a lower cost.

Councilmember Kassakhian stated he read an article in the LA Times by Sammy Roth dated April 6" regarding California’s race against time to build powerlines. The article was about the sustainability vision and goals of the State that are outpacing the realities on the ground and how so much work needs to be done by the leadership up in Sacramento and other agencies to build the powerlines necessary to bring in green energy capacity that the state hopes to have by the set deadlines.

City Clerk Abajian visited the Tongva Conservancy along with other elected officials from LA County and learned about the history of the tribe and their displacement from their indigenous lands. She received a policy brief from the Tongva Conservancy and will be giving a more detailed presentation during the next Council meeting staff comments section.

The policy brief includes actions that cities can take to support the Tongva Conservancy and build a relationship with the Gabrielino Tongva Tribe. Mayor Brotman stated that Clerk Abajian should hold off on this presentation for the next Council meeting and bring it up at a later date.

Mayor Brotman reported that a speeding car hit and killed a pedestrian crossing at the intersection of Glendale Avenue and Broadway. He provided his comments and stated that this is a reminder that the City need to act on bike and pedestrian safety. . COMMUNITY EVENT ANNOUNCEMENTS (3-Minutes)
