Mayor Brotman announced that the City of Glendale is now part of the City Data Alliance Accelerator Program. A group called Bloomberg Center for Government of Excellence © (GovEx) organized a meeting here in Glendale and city staff and GovEx agreed on a vision statement which Brotman will share in two weeks.

City Manager Roubik Golanian announced there will be a “Council in Your Neighborhood” meeting next week on June 20, 6pm at Pacific Community Center. Items for discussion will _ be Council Districting, Summer Programs, and Public Arts updates.

Councilmember Najarian announced that this Friday will be the opening of the new Metro Regional Connector Subway line which ties all rail lines through Downtown Los Angeles.

The Metro Rail System is offering free rides this Friday to Sunday. Najarian stated that the US Federal Government will issue a grant for $38.3M going towards the San Fernando and Doran Street rail crossing. He also stated that funds will roll in for the Glendale Beeline Plan which will be used for operations, electrification, and improvement of building structures.

Najarian attended the International Transit Conference last week where discussions were held about zero-emission vehicles, equity, and environmental justices throughout the world.

Councilmember Najarian read his statement on the protest that happened last Tuesday at the Glendale Unified School Board meeting. Mayor Brotman thanked the Glendale Police Department for keeping the community safe especially during the protest. Councilmember Asatryan condemned the extremist outside agitators and groups including Antifa and the Proud Boys who ventured into the City of Glendale with the intent to disrupt and instigate violence. She went on to confirm, following discussion with Glendale Police Chief Manny Cid, that these outside groups did come in and none of the arrests made included Glendale parents, a fact she wants widely recognized and acknowledged. She emphasized that it's every citizen's right, parents included, to voice their concerns and opinions without fear.

Furthermore, she noted, it is the duty of leaders to establish and maintain an environment safe for such discourse in a civil manner. Addressing the recent wave of hate crimes in the city that have targeted various communities including the Armenian, LGBTQ+, and Jewish populations, Councilmember Asatryan underscored that the Armenian community continues to be a specific target of hate.
