RE: Review of Certain Proposed Amendments to Residential Districts, Commercial Districts and Objective Design Standards for Multi-Family
Dear Mayor Brotman and Council Members:
From our comments made in November of 2023 on similar issues, the Glendale Homeowners Coordinating Council advocates for transparency, clarity and simplicity in City processes. To that end we are an engaged stakeholder and active participant in City endeavors. Our members have been directly involved in Planning Streamlining efforts for a decade from my personal observations. We have raised matters that arose from the Streamlining Task Force from years ago that remain unresolved by Council. It is disappointing that the neighborhoods of Glendale were not engaged in the second phase, aware of the first phase or meaningfully engaged in the ongoing process. Our members shared their perspectives on the Long-Range Planning presented at the December GHCC meeting and do not see our comments reflected in any aspects of the Staff Reports since.
We encourage the Council to make public their feedback and direction and expand the scope of work for improvements and streamlining to include the broader stakeholders in the community.
Our goal is to get beyond saying “Yes” to achieve “Good” development that enhances our community and enriches the quality of life within our city.
Sincerely,
Grant Michals, President
