Mayor Asatryan, City Councilmembers,
We are confused by consent item 4f:
“Glendale Water & Power, re: Adoption of Plans and Specifications for the Construction of a Fiber Optic Line to the Parks and Facilities in Scholl Canyon” We understand that the biogas plant will need to have a good communication link to allow it to be operated remotely. But we have lots of questions which are not addressed in the packet, possibly because the specifications and plans alluded to in the resolution, and which you are being asked to approve tonight, are not included. Some of our questions are the following:
Where is the fiber optic link coming from? Is it from Grayson? The packet says “the plan envisages communication line to the new power plant as well as the Scholl Ball Fields. Furthermore, the design makes provisions for future fiber services to Glenoaks Elementary School, Glenoaks Park and Lower Scholl Park.” So, the line only goes to the power plant and the ball fields. Right? It also does not mention the golf course or tennis courts. Why?
How will the ball fields utilize this link? Will WiFi be installed at the ball fields? Do all other parks in Glendale have fiber optic links? What kind of disruption in Glenoaks Canyon will be necessary to install the line? Will there be disruptions in other parts of Glendale?
We believe that Council and the public need more information to approve this item. Even the title is misleading by mentioning the parks first.
Thank you
