PROCLAMATION
Whereas, it is well documented that each year, thousands of lives have been saved and millions of dollars of property damage have been averted through the enactment of Building Codes; and
Whereas, the City of Glendale has been adopting Building Codes for the well-being of our community since 1913, to protect our citizens from the effects of Earthquakes, Windstorms, Fires, Floods and more recently, to ensure accessibility, energy, and resource conservation to create a sustainable community; and
Whereas, "Mission Possible" The theme for Building Safety Month 2024, encourages all citizens to recognize the importance of safe and resilient construction; fire prevention; disaster mitigation, and new technologies in the construction industry; and
Now, therefore, 1, Elen Asatryan, Mayor of the City of Glendale, California, do hereby proclaim the month of May 2024
Building Safety Month
so that we can recognize the importance of building codes in our community and dedicated professionals of our Building and Safety team who are working daily to keep our community safe.
