Whereas, Glendale, California, takes pride in its rich history and embraces the diverse cultures that contribute to the unique character of our community, acknowledging the pioneers and immigrants who have played pivotal roles in shaping our city's development, growth, and strength; and Whereas, since 2006, the month of May has been designated as Jewish American Heritage Month, recognizing the significant contributions of Jewish Americans to the cultural, social, and economic fabric of our nation; and Whereas, the enduring legacy of the Jewish people, rooted in both biblical and contemporary history, has served as a source of inspiration for the founding principles of the United States and continues to influence our nation's dedication to freedom, social justice, and humanitarian causes; and Whereas, the values inherent in Jewish faith, including the inherent dignity of every individual, the sanctity of life, the observance of the Sabbath, and the paramount importance of education, have helped shape the character and ethos of America; and
Whereas, Jewish Americans play integral roles in the success and vitality of our nation and the Glendale community, contributing to various sectors including leadership, entrepreneurship, and public service; and
Now Therefore, I, Elen Asatryan, Mayor of the City of Glendale, California, do hereby proclaim May 2024 as
JEWISH AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
in the city of Glendale, California. I encourage all citizens to join me in expressing gratitude to the Jewish American community for their enduring contributions to the prosperity and spirit of our city, state, and nation.
