PROCLAMATION
Whereas, Public Works projects and services are critical to the growth and quality of life in the City of Glendale, and are an integral part of our citizens everyday lives.
Through the efforts of our Public Works Department, Glendale remains a safe and comfortable community in which to reside; and
Whereas, the employees of the Public Works Department are committed to providing daily infrastructure services in a quality manner; and Whereas, these infrastructure, facilities and services could not be provided without the dedicated efforts of public works professionals, who are engineers, managers, and employees at all levels of government who are responsible for rebuilding, improving, and protecting our nation's transportation, sewer and solid waste systems, public buildings, and other structures and facilities essential to our citizens; and Whereas, the support of informed citizens is vital to the efficient maintenance and operation of the City's infrastructure including operations such as street maintenance and urban forestry services, traffic and civil engineering, traffic signal management, facilities maintenance, integrated waste management, transit, and fleet services; and Whereas, a well-planted, designed and maintained municipal infrastructure is vitally dependent upon a team of people dedicated to professional excellence, customer satisfaction, and who strive to accomplish their everyday tasks efficiently, effectively, and with accountability to the community they serve; and Whereas, the year 2024 marks the 64" annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works; and
Now, therefore, I Elen Asatryan, Mayor of the City of Glendale, do hereby proclaim May 19-25, 2024 as
National Public Works Week
and call upon all citizens and civic organizations in the City of Glendale to acquaint themselves with the issues involved in providing for our local infrastructure and to recognize the contributions which public works officials make every day to the betterment of our residents' health, safety, comfort, and quality of life.
