WhWhereas, since 1970, Americans come together every June to honor and celebrate the 1969 Stonewall Uprising that catalyzed and brought great visibility to the LGBTQIA+ civil rights movement; and

WhWhereas, all citizens on these lands deserve to live without fear of discrimination and violence on the basis of gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation or otherwise; and

WhWhereas, honoring Pride Month is a first step in fostering a constructive and compassionate dialogue within the City of Glendale regarding LGBTQIA+ rights, progress, and equality; and

WhWhereas, we will continue to support LGBTQIA+ organizations that provide critical social and educational resources to their respective members and constituencies; and

WhWhereas, it is imperative that we extend our support to all professionals who champion inclusivity and create safe havens within all of our city’s establishments and institutions, ensuring that every child, family, and resident including the LGBTQ+ communities feels loved, embraced, respected and safe; and

WhWhereas, while the City of Glendale continues to work with all its LGBTQIA+ community members in their challenges and efforts towards a more equitable, safe life, it especially recognizes the necessity of young people, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity to feel valued, safe, empowered, and supported by their community; and
