1 PLANNING
3 PRESERVING ROCKHAVEN

REHABILITATION AND ACCESSIBLITY ENHANCEMENTS
CDD staff has completed a number of key
milestones in planning for the preservation
of the Rockhaven site.

The current project focuses on rehabilitating
the Pines Cottage for a museum, improving the
Rockhaven grounds, and correcting
accessibility issues preventing full community
access.

Based on approval of the 100% conceptual
design package, CDD would manage the
preparation of the construction and bid
documents for City Council consideration in
Spring 2025.
4 GENERAL PLAN EFFORTS
Glendale is currently updating its Land Use, Circulation/Mobility, and Safety Elements, and will soon begin updates to the Open Space and Conservation Element and Recreation Element. A new Environmental Justice Element will be introduced to ensure a sustainable and equitable city.

7 BUILDING SAFETY MONTH
The event was a huge success and was attended by architects, designers, engineers and a special visit by our Glendale High School Building and Safety program participants, who had an opportunity to mingle with staff and have some fun.
8 INSPIRING FUTURE GENERATIONS
Part of the Department’s goal is to engage our
community by appealing to its future.

Building & Safety staff visited Horace Mann
Elementary to provide interactive exercises in
reading and coloring.

The kids were intrigued and engaged with our
educational outreach program; and they were
already asking about our next visit to learn more
about Building & Safety and Community
Development.

16 PIEDMONT SENIOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT
The Piedmont Senior Affordable Housing Project has been awarded $25M in Federal low-income housing tax credits! Glendale had the lowest tie-breaker awarded, meaning the City did not subsidize the project locally any more than necessary.

Glendale purchased the property for $12M and provided a conditional commitment of $2.2M in HOME ARP funds to complete the project.

The project will convert a vacant 112-bed senior assisted living facility into 68 rental apartments reserved for extremely low, very low and low-income seniors. 17 CONSTRUCTION COMPLETION: CITRUS CROSSING
The 24-month construction process for
Citrus Crossing, the new 127-unit
affordable housing project at 900 E.

Broadway for lower income seniors, will

3,800 households applied for an
opportunity to be selected in a lottery for
occupancy of the project.
