MOTION
Moved by Council Member Kassakhian , seconded by Council Member Brotman , that, with respect to the Report to City Council dated September 17, 2024 pertaining to methodology for code enforcement action, the Council directs staff to pursue the options provided in the Report as follows:
e Incorporating night and weekend shifts as outlined in the Report, including the staff modifications discussed therein;
e Exploring additional/enhanced education of municipal code requirements; e Exploring incentives and programs that market availability of incentives at the state level; e xploring/studying proactive and heightened enforcement as discussed in the Report; e Investigating and studying mediation services;
e Investigating an amnesty program for violations occurring prior to an owner's acquisition of a property; and
e Studying special accommodations for property owners with limited financial resources, challenges associated with being elderly/fixed income, or other extenuating circumstances.
