Daniel D. Paul,
Historic Preservation Commission Applicant
Statement of Purpose
February 23, 2023
I am delighted to submit this application as a potential City of Glendale Historic Preservation Commissioner. I see myself as an objective and informed applicant. I teach my GCC architectural history students that buildings, structures, objects, and designed landscape elements are an unavoidable part of our shared environment. For the history, memory, and sense of our shared place they embed, it is key to properly see, and sometimes preserve- in detail- examples of such work. Through my ability to communicate plus my experience and understanding of this subject, I shall strive to facilitate positive preservation for our City.
Daniel Paul

Alek Bartrosouf
City of Glendale Transportation and Parking Commission
January 28, 2025
I respectfully submit my application and express an interest in serving again on the City of Glendale Transportation and Parking Commission.
Having served for 4 years on the Sustainability Commission and another 4 years on the Transportation and Parking Commission, I understand the role of our city commissions is to advise council on policy and programs. As a practicing Urban Planner in the field of transportation, I offer 13 years of experience to my prospective colleagues, staff, and City Council as a commissioner. Having worked for non-profits, SCAG, multiple local cities, and served in multiple advisory roles for the City of Glendale, I bring outside best practices and knowledge to the city as we look for innovative ways to address unique challenges.
My personal goal is to provide expertise and knowledge in transportation policy, urban planning, and sustainability to help advance the city's adopted policies around traffic and transportation safety. As a lifelong resident of Glendale, and having lived in downtown, northwest, and south Glendale, ! understand the unique issues facing our communities. I have served in numerous advisory roles, including for the Greener Glendale Plan, Pedestrian Master Plan, Bicycle Master Plan, and Local Road Safety Plan.
These plans, in addition to upcoming plans the city is working - the Climate Action and Adaptation Pian, Vision Zero plan, and local community plans - stitch together an underlying transportation priority of safety. My focus on the Transportation and Parking Commission will be to advise City Council on how best to approach transportation policy with safety as our top priority.
I'm grateful for the opportunity and am happy to serve. Thank you for your consideration.
