Dear City Council Members,
It has been brought to my attention that you are building a bike line in La Crescenta down La Crescenta street. I highly oppose this. I grow up in La Crescenta and in the last 40 years I barely have seen people riding bikes in our town. However, the amount of traffic and cars being driven has risen tremendously. Reducing traffic lanes to make room for bike lines is a horrible idea in an already populous town. Please reconsider. Many people drive down La Crescenta street to avoid the congested freeway. People make their way to Glendale College and other parts of Glendale using this road. This project must stop immediately and use the money instead to widen streets and decrease traffic. Hello,
As a resident of Montrose for over 25 years I do not see the need to remove a vehicle lane and replace it with a bike lane.

There is so much vehicle traffic on the streets that
reducing a lane with be a safety hazard if we ever have an emergency.

I ask you to reconsider the idea of adding a bike lane
especially when there really aren't many if any bikes in the area due to the
hilly terrain.

Good afternoon,

I am writing to express my concerns about the recent proposal to add a bike lane by removing an existing driving lane in our community on lacrescenta ave. While I understand and appreciate the intention behind creating more bike-friendly infrastructure, I believe this decision could have unintended negative
consequences for residents and commuters.

Many of us in the community feel that removing a driving lane would create significant traffic congestion and hinder mobility.

The same scenario occured on brand blvd and the lane was later removed. Please dont make the same mistake and dont make a push for this proposal.

Best regards
Mkrtich Mike Torosian

Subject: Opposition to Traffic Lane Deletion on La Crescenta Ave.

Greetings,

As a lifelong resident of Glendale, I want to acknowledge and thank the City Council and Public Works for your efforts toward the rehabilitation of La Crescenta Ave. The overwhelming majority of the upcoming changes and improvements are quite welcome.

However, I want to call your attention to the same issue we all had with Brand Blvd.

Namely, the reduction of traffic lanes to accommodate bicycle lanes and/or a centerline divider/median.

I and many constituents strongly oppose any reduction of traffic lanes, as La Crescenta is a crucial artery that serves the community, including during emergency ingress/egress.

While few oppose bicycle lanes/traffic in principle, many note that very few bicyclists (and an even more diminutive number of "commuters," vs. pleasure riders) use La Crescenta Ave. and most are deterred by the "uphill climb."

Some express frustration about speeders on the street. We feel that issue is better broached via the Glendale Police Department's ability to cite such scofflaws, versus increasing congestion to "slow drivers down."

Therefore, I respectfully request, on behalf of many, that the street improvement project be modified to accommodate 2 lanes of automobile traffic in both directions, just as the case is now.

Thank you for your consideration.

Chuck
