Subject: City Council meeting of March 18, 2025 - Agenda ITEM 8B

Dear Mayor Asatryan and Councilmembers, greetings.

Please allow this email to express my full support for the above mentioned Item to “Restore and Expand the Commission on the Status of Women”.

As a 30+ year active member of different charitable organizations and former Region Governor of an international service organization, Soroptimist International of the Americas Camino Real Region, whose mission is to “Provide women and girls with access to the education and training they need to achieve economic empowerment,” I am very familiar with all the challenges and hardships women face locally and all over the world.

It is only with help of local governments, such as Glendale, and committed organizations that we are able to touch the lives and help women locally and globally. It has to start here, and it has to start now.

Imagine the City of Glendale, the COSW and other local organizations leading to help women to have the resources and opportunities to reach their full potentials and live their dreams. Given the tools they need (i.e. staff, budget, additional meetings, partnership with other organizations, etc.), the City of Glendale’s COSW can start with their long range plans and programs and be of help to many women. Please help the Commission be of further help. That would be awesome.

Thank you for the opportunity to express my support of this item and hoping for your favorable consideration and approval.

Sincerely,
Edith M. Fuentes
Active FilAm Community Leader and Board Member of local non profit organizations ( FABAG, YMCA, Soroptimist Glendale, UAPSoCal).
