A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE,
CALIFORNIA, PLACING INTO NOMINATION GLENDALE WATER AND POWER DEPARTMENT’S ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER OF WATER AS A MEMBER
OF THE ASSOCIATION OF CALIFORNIA WATER AGNECIES (ACWA) REGION 8 BOARD FOR THE 2026-2027 TERM
WHEREAS, the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) is the largest statewide coalition of public water agencies in the country with approximately 470 public agency members including the City of Glendale’s Glendale Water and Power Department (GWP); and
WHEREAS, ACWA’s Board is comprised of 5-7 members who serve for two-year terms; and
WHEREAS, ACWA’s Region 8 is comprised of Los Angeles and Ventura counties and services a population of approximately 11.1 million over the span of roughly 6,000 square miles and includes approximately 56 public water agencies; and
WHEREAS, the Region 8 Board is currently seeking candidates made up of Water Agency Managers and members to fill one board vacancy for the 2026 - 2027 term as a non-compensated role, to participate and engage in Region membership meetings in support of program planning and activities for the region as described in the Report dated May 6, 2025 by the Acting General Manager of GWP; and WHEREAS, Chisom Obegolu currently serves as the Assistant General Manager for the Water section for GWP; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Obegolu has indicated a desire to serve as a member of the ACWA Region 8 Board for the 2026-2027 term; and
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Glendale does encourage the participation of its staff in the affairs of ACWA.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Glendale does hereby place its full and unreserved support in the nomination of Chisom Obegolu, Assistant General Manager of Water for GWP to serve as a member of the ACWA Region 8 Board for the 2026-2027 term.
SECTION 2. The City Council of the City of Glendale does hereby determine that the expenses attendant with the service of Chisom Obegolu, Assistant General Manager, in ACWA Region 8 shall be borne by the City of Glendale. 2 / / /
