A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE,
CALIFORNIA DISPENSING WITH COMPETITIVE BIDDING AND
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER OR HIS DESIGNEE TO EXECUTE AN AMENDMENT TO CONTRACT 8002359 WITH MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC US, INC., FOR THE PROPRIETARY MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS OF
MITSUBISHI ELEVATORS ADDING THE ELEVATOR AT THE POLICE
BUILDING PARKING STRUCTURE TO THE CONTRACT SCOPE.
WHEREAS, the Public Works Department is responsible for the maintenance and repair of over 200 City facilities including: Parks, Civic Center, Police, Fire, Libraries, Water and Power, Public Works, and various street medians and common areas; and WHEREAS, currently two Mitsubishi elevators are operating at the Police Building and one at Central Library; and
WHEREAS, one elevator at the police building parking structure has significant Mitsubishi manufactured parts; and
WHEREAS, Mitsubishi elevators and its parts are proprietary equipment and Mitsubishi technicians are uniquely qualified to service Mitsubishi elevators and to work on Mitsubishi manufactured elevator parts;
WHEREAS, staff believes improved service as well as cost savings can be realized by the city by incorporating maintenance and repair of the one elevator at the police building parking structure into contract 8002359.
WHEREAS, previous maintenance and repair contracts for these three elevators as well as the current contract 8002359 were executed following dispensing with competitive bidding; and
WHEREAS, given the foregoing need for quality service and cost savings, it appears adequate justification exists and it is in the best interests of the city, upon recommendation of the Director of Public Works, to dispense with competitive bidding and to authorize the City Manager or a designee to execute an amendment to contract 8002359 with Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. for proprietary maintenance and repairs of Mitsubishi elevators increasing the scope to include maintenance and repair of the elevator at the police building parking structure and increasing the contract amount by $50,000 to a new not-to-exceed amount of $250,000.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GLENDALE:
1. That the foregoing facts are deemed to be true and correct and are a basis for dispensing with competitive bidding and authorizing the execution of a contract amendment for proprietary maintenance and repairs of Mitsubishi elevators with 1 5

2. The Council hereby dispenses with competitive bidding and authorizes the City Manager, or a designee, to execute an amendment to contract 8002359 for proprietary maintenance and repairs of Mitsubishi elevators with Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc. increasing the amount by $50,000 to a new a not-to-exceed amount of $250,000, subject to approval as to form by the City Attorney.
