I am in support of the Adoption of the Ordinance that allows the Commission on the Status of Women to meet once a month. It is extremely difficult to address important issues in a timely manner when meetings are held less frequently. Many items may "fall through the cracks" if left unaddressed for several months. The Commission also assists with the distribution of information concerning events and issues important to the community.

Dear Glendale City Board Members,
I am writing to address Agenda Item 8.a., which I strongly support, regarding the need to hold monthly meetings for the City's Commission on the Status of Women.
As both a Glendale Community College Board Trustee and the President of Soroptimist of Glendale, I see firsthand the critical importance of collaboration and informed policy in advancing the lives of women and girls in our community.
Monthly meetings would allow the Commission to bring together, with greater urgency and consistency, our shared advice, initiatives, and policies. This regular cadence is vital for addressing key issues that support women in their career paths and providing educational resources that enhance their quality of life.
These issues are not merely beneficial—they are essential to achieving parity, confidence, and stability for women, which in turn strengthens their families and the entire community. A monthly schedule would ensure the Commission is a consistently active and effective body, able to quickly respond to current needs and fully carry out its mission.
I urge you to support this move to a monthly meeting schedule, thereby prioritizing the foundational work of empowering women in Glendale.

I am, again, asking you to take action on Item 8.a.1 and PASS the Ordinance to return the Commission on the Status of Women to the MONTHLY meeting like it was designed for in the beginning, when I sat on the committee to design the CSW. It is necessary for continuity and consistency in the assessment of critical issues affecting women and girls in the City of Glendale.
