Public Statement: YWCA Funding
My name is Erin Nakamura. I live and work in Glendale, CA, and am writing to express my interest in prioritizing programming that serves the mental wellness of our community. I encourage Glendale leaders to prioritize the YWCA, and their counseling and support groups for survivors of domestic violence and their families -- these services are offered in English, Spanish, and Armenian.
Experiencing abuse is painful and isolating, which makes specialized mental health services in one's native language crucial for Glendalians- always, but especially in emergency situations. The YWCA provides cultural and linguistically relevant clinical services and are trusted members of our Glendale community. Funding these services is a huge step in ensuring a healthier Glendale.
I'm emailing you today to ensure that this program receives consideration and funding to ensure they are able to continue to meet the needs of some of our most vulnerable community members.
Thank you for your consideration,
Erin Nakamura

Dear Glendale leaders and community members,

Hello,
My name is Mariam Agazaryan and I live and work in Glendale, CA. I’m writing to urge you to prioritize programming that supports the mental wellness of our community.
In particular, I encourage Glendale leaders to support the YWCA and their counseling and support groups for survivors of domestic violence and their families. These services—offered in English, Spanish, and Armenian—are a lifeline for so many. These services provided will be even more essential with the
impending economic recession. Studies have shown that economic instability and recessions increase domestic violence. Please don’t let our community suffer in silence. This is not just a women’s issue. THIS IS AN EVERYONE ISSUE! Do the right thing and continue supporting and funding the YWCA and the work that they do for this community.
I hope you will give this program the consideration and support it needs to continue serving some of our most vulnerable neighbors.
Thank you for your time and leadership.
Best,
Mariam Agazaryan, MBA

-Nibley Park has a stretch of elevated walkway adjacent to its tennis courts that has a low border of jagged/broken rocks instead of a solid retaining wall and railing to prevent falls--not safe for small kids.
STILL NOT ADDRESSED. -Nibley Park's entry gate was stuck/not functional as of last week. -The stretch of sidewalk and unmaintained greenery on Verdugo Road between Glenoaks Blvd and the Golden Farms Market Plaza is regularly covered in feces, garbage, discarded furniture, and more. I SEE
CLEANUP HAPPENS EVERY ONE IN A WHILE, BUT IT NEEDS TO BE INCREASED IN FREQUENCY AND SIGNS PUT UP REMINDING PEOPLE OF FINES FOR DUMPING THEIR TRASH. -Both intersections of Glenoaks Blvd and Verdugo Circle Drive desperately needs an illuminated crosswalk.
Wilson Middle School students and neighborhood residents (many elderly and/or with small kids) are regularly jaywalking here and risking their lives. STILL NOT ADDRESSED. STILL DANGEROUS! Thank you!
