EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
Glendale Water and Power Department’s (GWP) Capital Improvement Project No. 26-02 proposes extending an existing 6-inch potable water main by approximately 240 feet along the 1800 block of Marion Drive to serve three newly constructed homes.
The project will enable service connections, ensure reliable potable water delivery, and support GWP’s commitment to maintaining a resilient and efficient water distribution system.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve a Resolution adopting Specification No. 4044 for the Capital Improvement Project – 6-inch Water Main Extension on 1800 Block of Marion Drive and directing the City Clerk to advertise for bids.
ANALYSIS
GWP’s Capital Improvement Project No. 26-02 – 6-inch Water Main Extension at the 1800 Block of Marion Drive proposes to extend an existing 6-inch potable water main by approximately 240 feet. This extension is required to provide water service to three newly constructed residential properties located at 1800, 1820, and 1830 Marion Drive.
Currently, there is no existing potable water main fronting these properties thus preventing the newly constructed homes from being connected to the City’s water system. The proposed water main extension will allow service connections and ensure reliable potable water delivery to these homes.
In addition to providing new water services and a new fire hydrant, the project supports 25d

ALTERNATIVES TO STAFF RECOMMENDATION
Alternative 1: Choose not to adopt Specification for the Capital Improvement Project, the 6-inch Water Main Extension on 1800 Block of Marion Drive, and not to advertise for bids. This would result in the newly constructed homes on the 1800 block being without potable water service, as no existing water main currently fronts the properties.
Alternative 2: Consider any other alternative not proposed by staff.
